Dental Primary Care Practice-Based Research Network: Administrative and Resource Center
Summary
Dental Primary Care Practice-Based Research Network: Administrative and Resource Center
NIDCR is establishing a Dental Primary Care Practice-Based Research Network (PBRN) to advance oral health integration into primary medical care. The Administrative and Resource Center (ARC) will serve as the operational backbone for a coordinated network conducting observational studies and clinical trials across multiple U.S. geographic regions (Nodes). The ARC's core mission is to build and sustain a practitioner network, manage regulatory infrastructure (including a single institutional review board), deliver research training to dental and office staff, and coordinate multi-site study deployment. This initiative reflects a "whole-person health" approach, positioning dental research within broader medical care systems rather than in isolation. The network will generate evidence on how oral health integration affects clinical outcomes and implementation feasibility in real-world primary care settings.
